Message from our President

Good morning, (this is a long one)

We do hope everyone enjoyed their Labor Day weekend. We still have many weeks of nice weather so do not think summer is over. It is September however, and that means our monthly meetings will start up again. Veteran monthly meeting is 2nd Monday of each month Monday 8 September 7pm.The Aux meeting is the 1ST Wednesday of each month Wednesday 3 September.

Allow me to start by letting everyone know that I was delinquent in submitting our request to be tax exempt to the town of Kingston. No excuse just a temporary mind dump. A lot going on and life just got in the way old man disease I guess. It has been submitted today but I do not expect an answer by 8 September. I would assume we will have an answer by our October meeting.

Both E Boards have met over the summer months and have contributed to the day to day operation of the club. I would like to thank all E Board members Veteran and Auxiliary for their efforts.

As we get back to our monthly meeting schedule we will be discussing some forward looking projects for our club. A few suggestions is a new shed for storage out back. Greg Queene built a shed 40 years ago and I think we have gotten our monies worth. The Men's room may be getting a face lift along with our fire pit.

Over the last several years we have done some projects that you can see and some that you cannot. All of these projects were done to improve and to maintain our club for all members to enjoy. Again thanks to all who made these things happen.

Just some house keeping notes. Smoking is only allowed on the new deck to the right as you exit the back door.. We realize that it does get crowded at times but please adhere to the policy that has been set by the E Board. There has been much back and forth on this matter and we simply ask that common sense be used. We will be looking to purchase another permanent structure to be placed on that deck. I am a smoker of cigars so I understand but we all must do the right thing. Thank You all.

The Veteran E Board and Aux E Board met in May and discussed forming several committees. The committees will report back to each E Board as required. The following is a few of the committees we would like to form.

Membership/Welcoming Committee

Both Veteran and Aux members. Assisting in aspects of membership, tracking dues, updating membership roster, creating a welcome letter, introducing new members to the club rules and By Laws, making recommendations and reporting to both boards are some of the tasks of such committee.,

Volunteer/Decorating Committee

As many have seen during the year our club is decorated seasonally. This has been done by only a few people, we would like to expand that workforce. In addition there are many functions that require volunteers and no real process for those who want to volunteer to do so. A task of this committee will to create such a process and brief both E Boards on their system. Some annual functions such as the Clam Bake,, Shovel Fest, Holiday parties. the list goes on. This committee would announce upcoming events and recruit volunteers to assist in club sponsored events.

Rules Regulations and By Law Committee

This committee would be responsible for reviewing our current By-Laws along with our Rules and Regulations. Upon review the committee would brief both E Boards on any recommended updates or changes. The committee would update current By-Laws and Rules and Regulations once adopted/approved by the E Boards and membership.

Entertainment Committee:

I would personally like to thank Nikki Vanseghi for all she has done scheduling entertainment for our club. We would like to expand this committee and allow others to join and provide input. Taskings will be to schedule entertainment, deconflict scheduling, solicit ideas from our members, coordinate with bar manager. Survey surrounding clubs to get cost analysis of recommended entertainers. To report to the E Boards as to upcoming so it can be announced ahead of time..

All committees are volunteer and will serve at the direction of the E Boards. The club has grown extensively over the years and the E Board members spend many hours planning and executing many different projects and events. These committees will assist in making our club even better. We appreciate all of our members, and this may be your opportunity to give back.

If interested in being on a committee, please send me and email with your info and what committee you are interested in at ronan.paul@comcast.net I will send you specifics on meeting dates and times.
